Thread: What do you do?

  1. #1

    Default What do you do?

Just a thread to get to know a bit more about each other.

What do you do for employment?

    Me:

Part time Flow Coordinator (Team leader of PM sort operations) for FedEx in Plano. Full time Dad.

I'm also a part time student at Collin County Community College and I'm studying for a Bachelors in Education. Still trying to decide on the subject but it will likely be History, Science and/or Math in either middle or high school.

    Wife:

Business and Computing teacher at Allen High School but she is trying to move into Special Ed.
    ...and across the line.

I though we had done this before and started by the same guy. It's all good, we have lots of new folks since this one went around.

    I no longer work really.

For many years I was a certified Optician, which means I took a national exam and passed, and I did everything from optical management to fabrication of lenses, selling etc etc etc.
I am currently only doing music, writing, playing guitar, hosting Karaoke, singing in my band (Tasty Lixx).

After getting my hip fixed which I calculate will be another 1 to 2 years I will rejoin the workforce likely will not return to Optics unless the make this a licensed state, but I will rather continue my own Karaoke business (Nextar Karaoke) and keep the band going.....may even have my LP finished by then.

In between all of that I try to stay on top of what is really going on in the country and educate people.....nuff said here.

    No just with their products.

But they do make sure I can be gainfully employed.

Full time tech. services assistant and assistant cataloger at Texas Wesleyan University. Basically I keep the library's database of books, electronic media, etc. up-to-date, as well as dabble in server administration and web-site construction; my special project is digitizing all of the old yearbooks for the college and creating a website out of it, and a side project dealing with just the library's history. This month marks one year for me there. I also received my Associates in May, and will start my BS in Mechanical Engineering in the fall at UTA. Luckily TWU is working with my schedule so that I can go full time at both, so I probably won't be around here much come Fall, my schedule is going to be hell.
