Thread: New ride... and it's a Mazda!

Default New ride... and it's a Mazda!

So I was thinking about getting back into a BMW for a daily driver until this little beauty popped up. It's a '91 RX-7 convertible.

I picked it up from a SCCA club racer in Ohio (the original owner) who was making room in his garage for a new convertible. Let's see, there was the RX-7, a brand new Mini Cooper S convertible, a fully restored 65 vette, and his Z4 race car. This guy really likes his drop tops, and he babied this thing. It is in about as good shape as it could possibly be in for a 15 year old car. Never saw rain or snow, sat in the garage with the top down and the tonneau cover on pretty much its whole life.

So me and a friend flew up to Ohio and drove the car back to Dallas, visiting some old friends along the way. It was a great drive and the car was perfect. It even managed to get around 27 mpg on the way back (all highway). Around town the car is a gas hog, but I'm loving the sound of the rotary.

    So here's the details:
    -triple black
    -leather interior
-pioneer stereo with CD player and headrest speakers
    -power everything
    -BBS wheels
-I swapped in the Voodoo knob from the Miata to replace the 80s style factory one

    Enjoy the pics!

If you look closer you'll see a set of stock Bridgestone Potenza RE71s!

You might ask... Thomas, how can this car still have the original tires???

Check out this pic. This is the mileage as of today! It was just under 26k miles when I picked it up in Ohio.

BTW, this was a TCB deal, but I'm not tellin how much. Let's just say it was cheaper than many Miatas I've see with twice the miles.

What a find! I'd love to have that sitting next to my LE in the garage.

Bleh... don't remind me of the FC, I've been wanting one for a project car for a few years now (though if I get one, it needs to be a coupe, it has to handle 400+hp ). Very nice find, that's the cleanest one I've seen in a long time. Makes me want to start looking at them again.

Very nice! I learned to drive in an '88 GXL, so I've always been fond of the FC. That's one of the cleanest and lowest mileage examples I've ever seen!

I was looking at one of those locally when I bought the Miata, the one I drove had a lot of power.

Thanks guys! I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably keep it as stock as possible, it's a good cruising car.

It's too bad they didn't make the vert with the turbo engine. That would be fun.
