Thread: Wheel upgrade question

  1. #1

    Default Wheel upgrade question

I have been thinking about going to a 15 inch wheel because there are a lot more choices for wheel/tire combos. These are the wheels I am considering.

What are the advantages, handling wise, for going to a smaller wheel or remaining at 16?

Not much at the speed you drive.

You wanna buy them? I just think those Brightlites look better and they only weigh 12 pounds.

I second that. Great price for a light wide wheel.

Well, I'm sure one of the engineers could answer this better than me, but I'm assuming that the wheel and tire package is lighter than the one you have alredy. This will reduce unsprung weight, which in turn will affect acceleration, braking, and handling in a good way. The bigger sidewall of a 15" wheel will give the rim more protection from potholes and the like. The smaller sidewall of the 16" wheel will be more responsive, but in a Miata, It might not make all that much of a difference, depending on which tire you choose. I think thats pretty much it, Iian?

BTW, don't trust those RX-8 drivers. They're a pretty scuzzy bunch of kids.
