    AutoZone can special order them...

    SU4349 - $89.99

O'Reilly Auto can special order them... Their website says they can have it in less than 24 hrs at your local store...

    CSS836 - 74.99

Napa Online shows them available... but you'll have to check the local store for availability in stock. They even have a pretty picture of it:

DEMSS10510 - $114 list. But Napa in-store prices are rarely ever list.

    Unbelievable!!
Thats the part highlighted in the second photo (I took mine off to check it out last night). Thanks for the info. Funny, my searching didn't turn up much of anything relevant Once again, you kids rock!

I'll check around and see if anyone's got them in stock. Too nice a weekend, and a long one at that, to not have a convertible!!

OK had to wait until Vivid was sleepin......

Unplugged it and the car will not start.

Plugged it back in and car started up ran great. Unplugged it while it was running and it instantly died. Didn't kick any codes.

Yeah, without the pulse the computer doesn't know when to fire the plugs... with an intermittent sensor you get an intermittent idle.

I've had similar experiences with those symptoms on more than one Jeep in the past. They had "crank position sensors" and it was a common occurance to replace those on the 4.0L inline 6cyl engines.

Hope you find one local & get the car up & running quickly!

It's a hall effect sensor. Basically an electronic switch that is magnetically triggered. If you pull the valve cover and rotate the engine you'll find a tiny magnet that triggers it.

There's no easy way to test one that is intermittent. All you can do is clean the sensor and if that doesn't work you replace it. It probably has a cracked solder joint inside.

Default "camshaft position sensor" referenced in the OBDII

this "CMP" is sold as a crank sensor not a cam sensor? very confusing..

You'll find on the newer models a camshaft and a crankshaft sensor. They are not the same. One goes on the top of the engine and the other goes down by the crank pulley.
