    Question Jackson Racing???

So what's up with the redesign, is this the end of the old style JR blowers???

I think Moss is going to continue to sell the M45 kit.

That is the direction Oscar Jackson and son are going. The M45 is still being produced by Eaton and sold by Moss. The Rotrex will start out at around $3500 for a 5 psi kit according to a phone call I made to JR hq's.

From what I have heard... Several years ago, Oscar Jackson sold all existing Jackson Racing intellectual property to Moss, and licensed use of the name to them. He stayed on board with them for a good while running things, and then left completely around 3 years ago to retire in Colorado. Since then, his son (Oscar Jr) graduated from college and decided he wanted a tuning company. He talked dad into starting over and they have developed several new products in conjunction with SUMMIT INDUSTRIES. I believe Summit is a part owner/major investor. It appears that while Oscar licensed use of the name to Moss, it wasn't exclusive rights. I don't think Moss realized this. They had no idea he was starting back up under the same name until he had hijacked jacksonracing.com out from under them. Moss has designed several new kits on their own since since Oscar left, and will continue to.

It is a centrifugal supercharger, which many consider inappropriate for a small engine. They typically build boost in a linear fashion, adding little boost (and therefor little torque) at low RPMs. Information on the Rotrex site (as well as a dyno I saw of a Honda with a Rotrex) imply that the Rotrex deals with this much better than other centrifugal superchargers. We won't really no for sure until we have a dyno from a Miata running a Rotrex so we can compare the graph to that of other FI Miata kits.

It looks like a modified Vortech style centrifugal SC. I think the SuperGen by Integral Powertrain is a pretty innovative expansion on the JR Rotrex SC.

Active Autowerks in Miami (one of the biggest FI kit manufacturers for BMWs) has been making a kit for the E36 6-cyl cars. I don't think anybody was really impressed with the performance or the ability to run more boost in the future.

People weren't happy with the centrifugal options like the vortech and rotrex so AA developed a twinscrew kit.

    What's with the Borg-styled header?

    ...and across the line.

It uses slip joints that allow for thermal expansion and the springs hold them together.

I guess welds aren't good enough for some people.

Although depending on the price and performance I might be willing to sport one on the RSX. I think the one in the pic is the Fit/Jazz model.

It's even made out of titanium.

Don't you guys remember the rotrex from 2 years ago? It was hyped up for the 350Z. I thought it was sweet when it came out then. It doesn't appear that HKS thought the same, according to their website.

Here is a review with dyno #'s and pics from turbo magazine's website.

If you take everything that's bad about a turbo and ad it to what's bad about a supercharger with very few of the advantages of ether, what you have is a centrifugal supercharger. lol
    The only advantage is space.

It deadens the pain you'll have from spending the money on that blower.
