TC, did you have a bad experience with Pirellis?
Yeah... The P-Zeros on onething's car were so slippery... I looked at them and fell down.

May I suggest Kumho's new SPT tires? Inexpensive summer tires with good all around characteristics, and not nearly as dangerous in bad weather as some other dedicated summer tires out there. I've got about 1000 miles on a set so far, including a couple of ice/sleet days in the RX-8, and I'm pretty happy with them so far.

and louder than Azenis with a million miles on them. I started calling them P-Zero Zeros.

hmmm... well they worked great on my M3, including autocross duty. I'd go with Onething and TC's suggestion though, b/c tires tend to work differently with different cars and sizes.

I am in need of tires and don't want to start another tire thread so....

    RS-2, or something cheaper?

The car is mainly a DD with 1 or 2 track events and maybe an S2K AX.

For street driving, the R-S2 and T1-R are fine in the cold, just not Ice and Snow.
In the Ice and Snow you wouldn't believe how much worse than all season tires both the RS2 and the T1R where. Very Bad!
But I was amazed at the T1-R's grip in very cold rain.(uper 30˚s)

For the track/AutoX they just take a long time to heat up, when it's cold outside. I'd look for a make shift skid-pad, you can destroy these tires on the track if they're cold.

For a spirited daily driver and maybe a focus day or two.
    I'd go for the T1-Rs
(great wet performance, very comfortable ride, quite and much more grip, wet or dry, than all season tires)

For a spirited daily driver and a few full track days or autoX I'd go with the RS2. (Less sidewall flex and better dry grip than the T1-R, stiffer ride but still comforable, and much more grip, wet or dry, than all season tires)

For more track time than that I'd go with the Azenis.
(noticeable less sidewall flex than the RS2 at lower air pressures, a bit more grip in the dry, slightly quicker turn-in, but not great in the wet, they can be loud as #ell and the ride can beat you to death on the street)

All of my experience with these tires where on 16" wheels so there might be a difference on 15"s

    +1 That's what I have.

    Reasons:

Better tread life than the others mentioned
Predictible handling in most of the Texas weather
CB Approved when I bought them. $60 ea. for 195/50/15

My car is a daily driver and driven by the DW regularly so I didn't want to have questionable rain handling. The last set of Falkens I had hydroplaned like a jet ski.

Thanks Skirt, I have 16's now so that is what i am looking at 215/45/16

I realize that Snow/Ice means try not to go to work, but I am looking into good wet performance, so right now it is looking like the RS-2's.

    Does anyone local carry them?

Remember, if you say "Discount Tire" without "Al Cavan", you're just getting Discount Tire...

What's this guys name again? How much does he charge to mount and balance? I'm still working on a deal for those of us who don't live in Oklahoma.

No deals for mount & balance, but I think altiain may have figured out an eastside deal for that...

Sammm, the discount in Grand Prairie on Pioneer Pkwy. has meet/beat online prices for me on more than one occasion with absolutely no questions asked.

I can get them to match tire pricing, I'm just looking to sweeten the deal with a better OTD (out-the-door) price.
