I need new tires and can decide if I should go with 195/50's or 205/50's. What do you guys think. I need the pros and cons if there are any.

Daily driver, smoother and quiter ride due to taller and softer sidewall, less expensive: 195's

Daily driver, better performing, rougher riding due to shorter and stiffer sidewall, more noise and more expensive: 205's

I would pick the 205's, but that's me.

You're backwards, Gary. If the aspect ratio stays the same(50%), the wider tire is taller.

Stick with the 195. It doesn't affect the speedo, and unless you've got gobs of power, the 205 over-tires the car, more drag, slower acceleration.

    Plus the 205's look silly!

I always thought that would be a fun thing to do. I've got a few bodies to play around with it....... Fenders flares are a bit much, and the mud flaps have got to go,but I like the step :)

Wouldn't he also need a decent Miata body to work with?

Another vote for 195s for the shorter tire.

Thread drifto: I've really considered using my dad's Samurai's running gear to make a 4x4 miata. He's not using it, the dimensions should be close, and he's already turboed it.

I was looking at a Geo Tracker. Same wheelbase and a real frame that lines up with the Miata tub rails. It still might happen one of these days......
