Thread: Race of Champions

    Default Race of Champions

I ran accross this on TV this weekend and I thought you guys might enjoy it. I'm not sure if you might have heard of this before.

It's called Race of Champions and it has two categories. There is the The Champion of Champions driver's cup and the ROC Nations Cup where drivers represent their country. It's a pretty cool concept. Identical cars on identical track. The track is actually one lap but the cars start lined up next to each other 1/2 lap apart. The drivers are primarily rally and circut drivers but motocycle and NASCAR drivers have participated in the past. There are many different cars and each race the drivers are in a differnet kind. There were rally, F1, DTM, and cup cars racing on a very technical and tight track. This weekend's race was made even more interesting since they practiced on a dry track and raced on a wet one. The track covers about the size of a football field and it's set up inside a stadium.

Any way check out the website.

I watched some of it on HDNet over the weekend. Not the most exciting racing, but it was fun to watch Travis Pastrana go head to head with F1 and WRC drivers.

    1100cc engine, 170hp@9500rpm!!!!

My race buddy sent me a link to this last week.
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).
