Thread: Boot modification for roll bar

Default Boot modification for roll bar

I got ready to put my new boot on today and realized the rollbar is in the way. It looks like I could split the seams to allow it to go around the rollbar. Has anyone else done this?

Yeah, I split the seams on mine, then took it to a local tailor to have them stitch it back up, I think it cost me about $6.

You had it stitched back up, as in, around the footing of the rollbar? Does it stay there all the time? I'm trying to picture it.

No, I just split the seam far enough to clear the rollbar, then had the tailor stitch up the now unfinished edges. You leave the boot split so that you can install and remove it around the rollbar, but have the edges stitche dup so that the raw vinyl edges don't unravel (also so the stitching in the seam you split doesn't continue to unravel any further than you need to install it around the rollbar).
