Isn't the little passageway to the EGR what tends to plug up on these cars? We did an intake cleaning on a couple NB's this spring. And it had a long skinny valley that we had to clean out. Let me see if I can find a picture!

It belongs to a friend here at work... she's having the work done at a local shop... I'm trying to make sure she's not getting the business, if you know what I mean.

A local shop is all I can say for now... but from the fact that I did this you should be able to infer of whom I write.
It would be better if she went elsewhere...
Unfortunetly for her, she went their at the request of her SO. However, she did ask me about shops after the fact and told her to be wary... but, the work/damage had already been done. Now, she's still having a CEL.
I don't know what the going price is but here is a step by step description with pictures. It includes a small comment about Cell code number. The author said he had seen prices from $75 to $700
Maybe she should come visit me and let me read the code...
Maybe I'll try to take the car from her and bring to where ever you may be at...
