Thread: Emissions result

Had the little sled smogged after work this afternoon, and everything came back peachy!
Well, there is one little item that I'll need to look at before next year (plan ahead much?), and that's the hydrocarbons at low speed, which passed by 1 ppm. Ugh...
"High speed" passed by 58ppm, btw.

Anyone have insight on what I'll need to peek at for this particular criterium? I've got no idea if it's a cat on the way out or just a matter of pulling back the timing a bit.
Oh, and if you have a place in mind where I can give the inspector a swift kick in the pants and run off with a sticker, that would be good to know as well.

Man... if you find out, lemme know! It's gettin' pretty hard to find those "carry-out" stickers...

If you find one of those places, or know of one of those places, don't tell in the open forum

    Send a nice PM.

Don't need some bleeding heart reading it on the open forum and reporting them.

    So seriously...about those hydrocarbons...
I have no interest in cheating the emissions testing.

Kicking the timing back to 10 deg just before I got it inspected, on my old '92 with 155,000 miles on the original always worked for me.

It always passed with no issues.

If you have a few miles on your car changing the oil and filter can make a diff in the HC......oil blow buy gets burned during combustion and cleaner oil WILL lower the HC in a higher mileage veh. Also a good injector cleaning wont hurt, it will help the spray pattern and you will get better combustion.
