Thread: Got your job via a newspaper ad?

Default Got your job via a newspaper ad?

I have worked at my present employer for 12 years. I realized today that I am probably one in a handful in this company that actually applied for my job based on an ad in the newspaper, as now everyone uses recruiters and online job sites.

Does anyone else work someplace where they originally applied via a newspaper ad?

I worked for my previous employer for seven years.

    Kinda/sorta...

They posted the Job Fair in the local paper. I went there & talked with a recruiter. Three months later they offered me a job.

I actually got my job cuz I heard that they needed some one with IT and inventory experience. Since then my job role has changed 4 times and I have only recently moved cubes. I moved from one side of the wall to the other thinking I could get a better cell phone signal.

I got my job thru an industry newspaper. Worked out pretty well I think.

This made me think. Of my last 5 jobs, covering almost 30 years of employment, none of them were from a newspaper ad. All came through word of mouth; i.e., networking.

Maybe it's time to buy another newspaper.
