Default No Front Plate? Check this out.

I was doing some research online and discovered this.

The new legislation also makes a number of changes to the rules governing tickets issued for offenses such as driving without a front license plate, burnt-out tail light or an expired registration sticker. Under the new rules, cited motorists will be able to escape the ticket as long as the defect is remedied and a $10 fee paid.

Got nabbed in November but I was speeding too. He just added it on. I also got nabbed back in 2004 in Mellissa, TX for no other reason than NFP.

I got a warning in 2004 by a DPS Trooper as well.

I've been ticketed a time or two for expired registration (never mentioned/noticed that I was missing my front plate) . Last time was a couple years ago. Cop who wrote the ticket told me to update the registration and take the paperwork downtown and they'd drop it for $10 processing fee. I did and that was that. As far as I know, they've been doing it that way for years.

I've been pulled over 3 times specifically for no front plate (in 3 different cars). Twice I got written warnings, and once I just got a verbal - all were from state troopers. I haven't run a real front plate on any of my cars since '95 (I had a Euro plate on my BMW, but it didn't match my tag number).

I've never had a "no front plate" ticket tacked on to any other traffic stop - cops have just told me to get the plate put on.

No we aren't saying that. Did you read the link?

All it says is the courts can only charge a maximum of $10 for fix-it tickets.

Fix-it tickets include expired registration, defective equipment and no front plate.

    Nope, didn't actually read it!

Cool, I can live with $10 in the event I get a ticket.
