Thread: Yay, some good news!

    Default Yay, some good news!

I went to play last night at the Point After North in Flowermound.
Roy Orbeson's son Wesley Orbeson came out to see me play and enjoyed the music so much he offered to send my demo to some record exec. friends of his in Nashville!
Wesley is a super nice guy.
This could be the break I have been looking for.

I will keep you guys posted if it works out.

Wow, less than 20 minutes! It took about 2 days for those comments to start popping up on Supraforums

Good luck Billy!!!! Congrats on an obviously good gig. I forgot you were playing so close to Denton. I had company last night anyway.

Hate to say it, but I told you so! You're good. It is bound to happen sooner or later.

Way to go Billy. Sherry & I were up at Grapevine Mills Saturday night to catch a movie and had planned to head over to see you later that evening, but never made it. Congrats

Don't forget us little people when you make it big.

When you tour with Carrie Underwood, I want backstage passes.

I wouldn't mind some backstage passes to Carrie Underwood either...LOL

Thanks for the good wishes, the way I understand it is there are all sorts of music coming out of Nashville these days not just country.
I really don't want to do country even though I have pretty strong country roots, and blues roots.
People have told me a lot that I play "Texas Music", I still haven't found anyone that could explain real well what that means.
I always thought it to be country music.
I have a real hard time putting my own music into a category, or specific genre. Largely due to the fact that I hear the songs with other instruments when I am writing them on acoustic (in my head)

But if I had a buttload of $ to spend on whatever I wanted I would probably buy a Lotus, after buying a ranch somewhere in the Hill Country of Texas
Oh and a custom Taylor GS with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and Spalted Maple top.

You probably know this, but once you have a foot in the door, it usually takes years to 'make it'. My ex knew Neal McCoy when he was in high school, won a local contest sponsored by Wrangler, and became a project. IIRC, it was about 10 years before his first release. I enjoyed listening to him play piano in a Chinese restaurant during the holidays for three years before he made it.

Keep playing and keep the faith.

Forget the Lotus; buy the ranch and find a sponsor to give you a truck - the Lotus front end would never survive the driveway at the ranch
