Call Mazda and give them your VIN. That is, assuming the diff in your car is original...

Visually, if you pull it and there is no 'bar' in the middle (where the half-shafts meet) it's a Torsen. If there is a 'bar', it's an oipen diff.

I know it's a torsen and the original that came with the car, since the car was hit (mildly) I might add in the front (just ask Stevan) it didnt hurt the rear end.

In fact everything on the car is in great shape, as it has been rebuilt or replaced.

I was curious as I have read there are two types of torsen LSD's in the NB and wanted to describe the right one when i sell mine.

Early 1.8 Miatas use a Type 1 Torsen. IIRC, at some point in 96 Mazda switched to the Type 2 Torsens.
