Joshua, just so you know... any Miata (excluding the NC) transmission will fit, they're all interchangeable. Doesn't have to be off of a 92. Try Planet Miata, they're $300+ shipping - http://www.planetmiata.com. If that doesn't work try the parts group - http://www.partsgroup.com, there's one on their site for $150+ shipping. If neither of those work for you try Cragslist, Ebay, Miata.net, Clubroadster.net.

Are you 100% sure it's the tranny? It would suck to put a new tranny in there if all you need to replace is a slave cylinder or something.

It's pretty rare for a transmission to go out... unless you are running a big turbo or supercharger. Most likely you have a failed hydraulic clutch slave cylinder.

    What are the symptoms?

    Default Hey thanks

Just wanted to say i appriciate everyones help with my transmission issue, i guess i should have listed whats wrong with the transmission, its got a brand new exedy clutch and fidanza flywheel so i know its not that, it also has a new slave cylinder, whats going on is say your in fith gear and you drop the car to fourth the tranny will make a lound grinding noise when coming down through the rpm's. The shifter also got stuck in reverse awhile back, you could put the car into 1st but the car would still stay in reverse and only go backwards, that was my problen with the shift fork.sorry if im not explaining this well. I got under the car to make sure the slave cylinder was working proper and to see if the tranny had fluid all was good. If anybody has any suggestions fill free to tell me if im missing something, im not going to lye i dont no how to rebulid a transmission and im lost at what it could be.

    Cool.

We wanted to make sure all the usual suspects were checked before coming to the conclusion the transmission was bad.

It's common for an early 90 model transmission to get stuck in reverse but the grinding noise is not. I wonder if VFR750 or one of the other guys on the board that part out Miatae have a transmission to sell.

How much for one of those installed? I have a severe gear whine with any acceleration 1-3rd and 5th gear but not fourth. I think my throwout bearing is also dying, it has a loud whirring/slight rattling noise with the clutch out in neutral, goes away with the clutch in.
