    Default Lexus HID headlights

My mom called last night and said that one of her headlights went out. She has an 00 RX300 with HIDs. I figure it is probably the bulb, but there seem to be more points of failure with HIDs than regular headlights. Is there anything I should check before we drop on a new bulb? It seems that replacement is fairly straight forward and similar to regular lights.

It's either the bulb, ballast or igniter. I would check the bulb first and if the bulb is good switch the ballasts and igniters from side to side and see if that's the problem.

Good news, it was just a bulb. Those things are pricey though. It was very easy to swap, and after looking at the old one it is obvious that it was hosed.

Should be pretty easy to find a generic D2S or D2R bulb these days for $20-30 as long as you don't get it from the dealer.

I looked around and most places were 80 or so. I wasnt sure if they are legit or not. So I just had her pick it up at Oriellys, but it was almost $100. It was a D2R
