Default PCA Time Trial #1, 4/26/08, Mineral Wells

Okay, who is in for something a little different? This is a great way to experience something closer to road course driving, but on the cheap. For the most part, a PCA TT at Mineral Wells is jut a coned road course. It is NOT an autocross. They always use one of these three courses. Whereas an AX you are in second gear and sometimes third, you will be in third and fourth the full time on these courses.

You usually get three heats. In each heat, you will get one warm up lap and 3-5 timed hot laps. Then you work the course, or vice versa. They often do two three lappers in the AM and one five lapper in the PM.

You also get about 30 minutes in the AM of open track, so you can learn the course by driving it over and over at about 1/2-2/3 speed.

    More info here.

In my opinion, this is easier than autocrossing, so if any of you have been hesitant to try it out, this is a good time to have some fun in your car.

It would be great to see some of the road course guys from this forum out there.

    Who wants to join me?

I think PCA hacked my Outlook! They always schedule stuff when I can't go

Time Trials are a blast. A few years ago (before I was hacked) I ran almost every event they offered. They are good folks, know how to put on a good time, but apparently have mad hacking skillz

I would recommend this event to anyone who is interested.

PCA didn't hack my calendar. I just never seem to have a free day when they hold an event.

I agree. I am always surprised at how few MME autocrossers and track racers attend these.

I did their Time Trial school once. It was great fun and perhaps slightly more transferable to my daily commute than autocross skillz.

I think you save $5 by pre-registering, so don't forget.

This is a great event for both autocrossers and track drivers. How about some of you track drivers joining us?

I wanted to make it, but I have to be financially responsible and skip it this time... I'll try to make one sometime soon though.

I'd be there, but I have other commitments this weekend. I'll see y'all next weekend at the Tour.
