Thread: Konig REWIND Silver 40mm--15x7, Tire Question

Question Konig REWIND Silver 40mm--15x7, Tire Question

Planning to get a set of Konig REWIND Silver 40mm--15x7, for the wife's 2002 Miata.

What width tire should we look at for a 7" rim?

She has been brain washed by Miatamoto and would prefer another set Hankook RS2....

But what other TCB tire should we consider?

This is her daily driver and she tends to drive it like she stole it !

Like Kramer's caddy on Seinfeld that had Sue Ellen Mischke (the Braless Wonder) put on the bra over her shirt in the courtroom, Miatamoto is always right.

    Yes, I'm always right!

I'd go with a 195/50/15 for that size wheel with the Hankook RS-2 or maybe a 205/50/15 Falken ZE912.

I'm running 205/50-15 Toyos (Proxes 4) on my Rewinds. For replacements, I'm considering the Hankooks or the Toyo T1R - but I'm going to stick with the 205/50 size cuz I like the way it looks .

FYI, the 195/50 Kook is probably wider than the 205/50 T1R.

    +1

For the TCB, also consider the General Exclaim UHP in 195/50/15 at $54. Reviews say they have soft sidewall, but the 7" wheels might make them a little sharper.

I got a set of 15" Z1 Star Spec, cant wait to try them out.

Interesting... I've noticed size variations in tire brands before. Is there a place that publishes actual measurements? Or, better yet, has anyone here measured their tires?

Rolling circumference, overall tire height as the car sits, and shoulder-shoulder tread width would be good things to know, eh?

I'll measure and post mine later today for the hell of it.

Well the darn Rewinds are on a 10-12 week backorder.....

I guess that is going to delay the project.

I like the Toyo T1R on the 15x7 Heliums. Ride is good and great traction.

    +1 for the Toyo TR1's
Konig makes a lot of light wheels, look around you might find another set you really like around the same weight.

    What about the Rota Rb?

I can find those with a 35mm offset.

BMWCCA members get the $100 rebate too, rebate valid from June to Aug.

Rebate form in the latest issue of Roundel magazine.

Hopefully the 15" size will be back in stock during that period.

I bought the Rota RBs in 15x8 from Fuji Racing. I just told him that I was a friend of Thomas and he gave me a better shipped price then I could find anywhere else.

Edgeracing.com and tirerack usually have the full specs on each tire...such as od, sh, sw, weight, etc.
