Thread: Anyone wanting to upgrade their iPod?

Default Anyone wanting to upgrade their iPod?

I'm looking for a used Nano or maybe Shuffle to use while jogging. I'm only interested in an iPod that uses flash memory. I'd like to find something that is at least 1GB

Question for iPod Shuffle owners. Does the lack of a screen bother you?

Not at all, we like ours. Very easy to use and fewer parts to get messed up in my mind.

BJ seems to be collecting these things. She has a 512mb shuffle that was handed down to Jamie when she got a 1gb Nano, but then she was jealous of how my 4gb Sansa plays videos and radio, so she bought one just like it. I'll ask her if she is willing to sell one of them.

I like that it clips on to your clothing but I'm not sure if I'd miss having a screen.

If it was just for jogging/gym, I'd be ok with no screen. I think all you have to do is set up a playlist on your PC, dump it to the Shuffle, then off you go.

I like my shuffle for jugging, because (1) I just use one of a couple carefully engineered workout playlists, (2) you have to stop running in order to stare at the screen and select a song/alum/playlist (defeating the purpose), and (3) I like the suprise of the shuffle function. You won't miss the screen. I don't.

I got a Sansa for < $20 (as in, that's what I bought it for... it's not for sale)... works great, holds lots. However, Bo has a good point... The shuffle is probably the better device for jogging as there's less to fidgit with.

I think you have me convinced on the shuffle. Apple sells a refirbed 1GB shuffle with a one year warranty and free shipping for $39.95.

Unless Todd's wife wants to cut me a killer deal on the Nano, I think I'll do that.

OK.. she has to find it first, but per the box it is actually a 2gb white, first gen Nano. I'll throw in the apple docking station that I bought her for x-mas but she never used for $60.

Answer to your first question: No, the lack of a screen doesn't bother me at all.

I went ahead and ordered a Shuffle from Apple. $53.04 shipped with free custom engraving.

I plan on using it at work too so the clip, small size and lack of screen (that can get damaged) was the deciding factor. I think this will be a good compliment to my iPod Classic. The Classic is for the car and the Shuffle will be for wearing around. I'll just swap music out in iTunes every so often. I was tempted to get the 2GB for $20 more but I figure 240 songs is plenty at any one time.
