Thread: Acorn lug nuts

    Default Acorn lug nuts

After helping POS Racing change his wheels in Baton Rouge, I decided that I really like the acorn lug nuts better than my open-end ones because they do not get stuck inside the socket. So, I could run to Autozone and pick up some acorns, or should I look into the light weight ones? Considering my car, would it be worth $100 for the light weight ones? I am thinking not, but I thought I would put it out there.

Also, any other suggestions? (About my nuts, that is.)

Remind me to bring you some acorn nuts. I think I've got a bunch sitting in a bag in the garage.

If you get them, don't leave them laying around... because, you know, squirrels love those acorn nuts...

I prefer to have power steering, so I was thinking about first getting my current Konis revalved to kill some of my roll, and eventually buy a 96 or 97, to which I can transfer the Konis. It seems hard to find a good 96 or 97 that is not loaded up, though.

The re-valving will not be cheap, but it will probably be less than the time and money I would spend looking for an R that would probably need revalved shocks, anyway.

You're getting Thomas nuts? There will be a big entry in the diary today. Maybe you can keep his nuts by his picture.

Warning...It may take several visits. I heard his wife complaining that Thomas is only good for 1 nut a night.

Shocks primary job is to keep the tires planted. Springs and roll bars control the roll................

But ya can't change the OEM springs if you want to run a stock class in Autocross.

You can also change the front bar!

Technically yes, for stock class autocross not so much. When you can't do it the right way you have to crank up the shocks and get more aggressive valving and then get a fat front swaybar since you can't change spring rates or rear sway bar.

remember that Koni offers a revalve service, and that their main guy is a good friend of Phil Osborne (I have all his contact info)

and also, if you are a Solo Nationals competitor at Topeka, for the last several years they have offered a rebuild/repair service on site at much less than via normal shipping process

might be time to go to Topeka

    Thanks for the info.

BTW, I already have a hotel in Topeka. Current shocks or revalved shocks -- I will be there.

you should call Koni and see when they will be there, whether they will take a "reservation" in their line of jobs to do, etc

depending on their schedule and when you run, it might work out
