Default altiain's car detail (better late than never?)

I am a bit of a photo hoarder... my wife stated I must go through and delete all photos that I do not intend to keep. (read: all of the car photos)

Iain did a great job on my suspension install and I in turn did some watermark removal with the Porter Cable.

I nevert posted these so here they are.

These water spots were the most difficult to actually capture the before photos.

    Here it is:

    Before Hood:

    After Hood:

    Before Rear Trunk Lid:

    After Rear Trunk Lid:

Check out the reflection of the lizard! Can you see it?

    Before scratch on pass front:

It may be a bass boat, but it's faster than your little dinghy, captain.

    Cool Detailing for Dummies

Very nice. I want to learn how to do that! All those different polishes, glazes, and waxes, not to mention the zillions of different pads for the PC... Too much for my small brain to learn from the interweb.

Anyone interested in hosting a "Detailing For Dummies" class sometime? I'd love to learn from people who actually know what they are doing.

I would be happy to donate my truck to the training session. Lord knows it could use a good cleaning.

I wouldn't know whether to bring the Miata or the MPV though, they're both in need of paint work

Are you using pc as a generic term? I thought you got the Meguiars G-110.

I've been thinking about getting the G-110. POS Racing or XM_Rocks which form pad kit do you guys have?

If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Just follow the post by XM_Rocks. I did it last year. It took two try. And it turn out great. Just make sure you take it easy around the mirrors. Don't ask how I find out. Just remember the paint is very thin!

My car desperately needs to be polished, it has lots of minor problem areas that would just go away if I had a PC. I'd be in for either a pay me to polish your car and teach you how or just teaching how, but getting my car polished would be great.

What? Take it easy around the mirrors? LOL

Yes see below on when I learned that lesson. Thank goodness the below was on MY car. Yes the mirrors are single stage.

Actually the before was quite faded and oxidized so no real loss...

i used to do the following to my red miata to keep it looking new:

    - clay bar
    (the following are meguiar's)
    - #2 i think fine cut cleaner on scratches
    - #9 or something swirl remover
    - #7 glaze - 2 to 3 coats
    (the rest is klasse)
    - klasse all in one red
    - klasse silver sealant - 2 to 3 coats

It took all day on a miata but you only do it once a year.

Then every 3 months you do the silver coating once, and every 6 months you do the red and silver coatings once.

For those with a black car, like mine, you will have a hard time to tell what on your pad is dirt or paint!
