Thread: New Motor

  1. #1

    Default New Motor

    Got a NEW motor comming

Replacing the motor mounts w/ some competition mounts and replacing the radiator with an aluminum PWR. What else should I replace??

Also, while I've got the transmission off I was planning on doing a new ACT clutch and flywheel. What else should I do w/ the trans besides new seals & gaskets?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious by saying heater hoses.

I thought "competition motor mounts" meant "more vibes"...

Just make sure you don't hook up the gas lines backwards.

BTDT... It shoots gas about 12 feet when you release the pressure on the line.

I would also install new shift boots and make sure to replace the trans input seal and throw our bearing and maybe rebuild the slave for good measure. On the motor new belts hoses and water pump are a given.

or you could just release the gas cap, pull the fuse, start the car, then remove them and not spill a drop.

Coolant re-route since it's out. If, you have power plans in the future.

I don't know what you are talking about. I would never hook up gas lines backwards.

do the coolant reroute if you plan on tracking it. Looks good, and good to see a few more turbo miatas in town. Is that a gt2554? Its a cute little guy, lol.

I'm happy to help if necessary when you decide to take the MS plunge.

If you don't mind me asking, what does a new engine run? My wife's 99 engine appears to be toast, so I'm trying to decide what to do, either rebuild, or buy a new short block.

I'd probably email [email protected] He has a bunch of spares lying around if you just want to swap in a fresh one. He has a connection too if you want to get something built.
