    Angry Concert ticket fees suck!

I now it's nothing new, but the fees on the Kid Rock/Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets I just bought really pissed me off:

    Full Price Ticket: US $26.00 x 2
    Facility Charge: US $6.00 x 2
    Convenience Charge: US $9.25 x 2
    Order Processing Fee: US $3.50
    Additional Taxes: US $1.54
    Total Charges: US $87.54

It is still a pretty good deal compared to some of the other tickets I have purchased lately.

Whatever happened to the good old days of $13.00 concerts?

I know what you mean. I stopped going to professional sports events several years ago. Concerts have just gone through the roof too. I would enjoy that show though.

Per the inflation calculator, $13 in 1978 equals $42.31 in 2009. With all fees and taxes, these tickets cost me $43.77 each. Did they charge any fees or taxes on those tickets back in 1978?

Looking at it from the other side, back in 1978, you would often have to spend the night in line in front of the record store the night before they went on sale to get your tickets. I like the convenience of ordering from the computer. I don't know if it is worth the "convenience" fee they charge, but it is a benefit.

I don't remember my buying experience for the Texas Jam tickets specifically, but I definitely have never spent the night in a line to buy anything. I think there may have been an additional fee of something like a buck or two back then.

I spent may hours waiting in line with an over-night in January for Ac/Dc tickets back in the day. Even after waiting all night, still got crappy tickets.

But like you said $87 for two tickets aren't bad. I recently paid $190.00/ea for the Eagles, and $180/ea for Van Halen.

For the JAM tickets, I think we just walked up and purchased them, all seats were General Admission, so no reason to get tickets early.
