Default Miata Fun while earning some dough

I'm looking for some folks who like to be around driving events who would like to earn some money. There are still worker positions available for Miata World II on Sunday, May 24th at Texas Motor Speedway. If you wanted to attend Miata World II but couldn't quite swing it, this is a great way to see what part of the festivities are all about and earn a little green while you're doing it.

The pay is decent - $50 for a half day assignment and $100 for a full day. We'll feed you lunch and you'll get a free TShirt proudly proclaiming your association with the event staff. There are a bunch of different duties ranging from managing que lines and shagging cones to assisting with timing and driving instruction. The hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. We will do our best to rotate folks around to different positions so you can be a part of the different activities.

There are three events happening at once: Oval rides/drives, a road course event, and an autocross on the bus lot. There will be a lot of activity - we're expecting over 300 Miatas to participate.

If you're interested or know someone who is, please send me an email - [email protected] . Indicate whether you would like an all day or a half day position, and if you'd like morning or afternoon for the half day. You'll be paid at the conclusion of your shift.

I would be very interested, actually. Are there any positions still available?

Thanks for keeping an eye on this thread for me, Neal.

There are still positions open - in fact if you have friends that would like to work, tell them. We could use about 10 more people.

Best way to get signed up is to shoot me an email - [email protected] or give me a call.

I just can't motivate myself to help.

I just can see myself shagging cones for 8 hours for a T-shirt, Lunch, and a $100.00. Yes I know SoloRX7 says he will rotate us around but still....

Does this make me a bad person??

That would cost about 50 in gas for me even to go to something like that...

We've got 100 brand new logo'd cones on the way. Picking up new cones is waaaay more fun than picking up old nasty ones.

Also think of the commaraderie, fellowship and great stories you'll have to tell afterwards! Think of the personal fullfillment you'll get if you can help out a total noob get faster.

Seriously - maybe this isn't for everyone, but it should prove to be a fun day. We don't think any less of you... really.... we don't.

For those who did not see it, here are some pics of all the cars parked on the oval for the group pic.

I had a good time out here. Man, there were a lot of Miatas.

How awesome!!! I wish I had been there now. But, I do not think I could have brought the spec miata there. It would have been too loud to travel through Grapevine!!

    Ya...

jrj512 may have had a great time - but I felt like I expected to see the olympics - and instead witnessed the special olympics. It was absolutely pathetic, and mind numbingly boring, watching these people drive their Miatas. I guarantee that 99% of the people who attended bought their Miata because they are retired, it was cheap, and the wife thinks it's cute. But, to actually drive it? No - their blood pressure medicine can't keep up with that.

Pathetic. Watching jrj512 do a lap on the road course, however, woke me up. That man hauls ass. But it was back to the quadropolegic drivers afterwards.
