Hello, my name is Patrick, and I'm a Miata owner.

Well, I bought the car that half the people on this forum seemed to have owned at one time or another. I'm trying to figure out why it's been sold so many times as it is a fantastic car. It's the silver 99 that Gary and Ken O and a few others have owned. Between all the different owners it has just about every track oriented mod that's available. Well, a lot of 'em anyway.

Just did my first track event this past weekend at MSR, in the pouring rain, and ultimately had a blast. Saturday was extremely frustrating and I was kicking myself for selling the STI. But, Sunday I started to figure out how to drive it in the wet. I'm still not fast, but at least I'm keeping the back wheels behind the front ones (instead of out to the side or in front of them). We got one semi-sorta-kinda-almost-dry session on Sunday afternoon and now I love the car. One thing I did notice is that I don't get the pass as quickly in the Miata as I did in the STI. I really have to run up their bumper and stay there or I don't get the pass. Maybe I'll install a super loud horn and start honking :) Can't wait to get back out there when it's dry.

    Welcome.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Well for me it was stupidity. I thought a Lotus 7 with an S2000 engine would be the bomb. After several issues with pedal placement and many rocks to the forehead on the highway it was gone. If I would not have sold the Miata the day before I picked up the 7 I would have kept it. But onward, I am loving the M3, at least today I am.

That Miata is a great car and a perfect example of what Gary (Track Dog Racing) can accomplish and still have a very street-able track toy.

    Enjoy!!

Since Ken O owned it, you'd better check under the seats for pron. Strange pron.

The seats were the one thing changed from when he had it. So unless there is another secret compartment somewhere the afore mentioned pron has been removed.

Nice videos ken. Who needs a $220,000 car anyway?

Welcome! Although I've never owned that car, I did instruct a previous owner (Steve something out of Austin, iirc) at MSR, so I've got a few laps in it myself.

Nice car, and welcome to the board! Does it still have the PSS9s on it? Switching to a more track-oriented suspension was one place I thought that car could use a little improvement.

+1 on the suspension improvements if it will be a track car.

Wow, those AST coilovers look awesome. But with springs and top mounts they are $3296. Ouch. That's a lot of driving lessons :)
