Stuck brake light switch?
Friend has a Miata and his brake lights are staying on after he releases his parking brake. No issues with regular brakes.
Any thoughts on the potential issue?

Stuck brake light switch?
I don't understand. The emergency brake does not turn on the brake lights.......

The lights on the back of the car? If so, lift up on the brake pedal with your foot. If the lights go off, check the switch but it's most likely a problem with the master cylinder.
If the lights don't go off, then check for a stuck switch under the brake pedal.
Now, if you're talking about the brake light on the dash and NOT the lights on the back of the car, then check the switch that is on the parking brake itself.

Lightness? What's that? I drive a PRHT!
Taking ChannelManiac's line of thought -- If you are referring to the (BRAKE!) light on the dash, check the brake fluid level.

Just confirmed. It's the "brakes" light on the dash that isn't turning off...
