Default $18,000 fender bender. GT-R Style

Apparently the guy tapped the truck in front. This set off the pedestrian protection system. It is a one time use system that requires ECU replacement along with more body work. I dont know if this system is on EU cars only, or is it on American cars too?

USDM cars don't have this fancy pedestrian saftey bonnet so that is why you won't find the parts on Courtesy's website. In NA pedestrians are as we say "a dime a dozen" so we don't try and protect them...lol...
Still that is a lot of $$$ to fix it!

And here I was thinking that the $35K bill my dad's friend got stuck with for the transmission was bad.

Also, does the hood pop up after the impact so that the recently hit pedestrians slide off the car? I know I wouldn't want some half mangled body lying on my hood.

Its a cushioning system to help absorb some the energy of the impact on the pedestrian. Its not designed to help protect the car at all.

it's keeper to just install the cattle deflector you find on old trains.

The Pedestrian system isn't installed on the North American market cars.

18K isn't that bad considering the ECU is replaced. Hell a transmission fluid change is like 3K.

People buy this car because its cheaper then most usper cars but can run with them. The company has gotta make some money somewhere. Gotta pay to play!

I think Nissan is trying to teach a lesson here: "Don't run into things with our cars."
