Maybe an exhaust. Stupid STU rules will not allow me to do headers with the 6" rule on cats. I am really close to saying F*** SCCA

What is the rule on cats in SM?
Even with 30 more whp you'll still be complaining about the boost buggies.

No cat necessary in SM. In fact, no cat necessary in anything beyond Stock or ST classes.

    M3 is always the answer.

Not sure for the M3, but in SM I can swap cams, turbo, and all sorts of other stuff.

From Glen's M3, I'm pretty sure you could go FI in SM if you wanted to... in addition to cams.

You'll have to get real r-comps to be competitive though.

Put the stock exhaust back on yesterday. It's so nice and quiet now. No more ear plugs.

    New tires next.

For the people thinking about exhaust next year don't forget about the new 100 db max rule in SCCA next year at nat. events, about time. I don't know if we will have a local limit.

I agree and I look forward to seeing how my new exhaust registers. With my current exhaust, I was the quietest car in my class at Nationals. My new exhaust is the same as Sammmy's, so it should not be too loud.

    Sammm is hard of hearing.

That exhaust of his is really loud no way it will meet the new spec.

I'll be curious to see how well the measurements are taken and how this will be enforced (i.e., what penalties will be assessed for failing). FWIW my Stock class RX-8 was over 100 dB at ~30 feet on a dyno.

I think it will be 100dB at 50 ft. As much as I hate the hard limit and think it will be a pain to enforce. I am very much in favor of the rule because of a few cars that are WAY to load and nobody being able or willing to enforce the current muffler rule.

My left ear still rings from being in the wrong place when a 3 rotor Miata started his car in gird 2 years ago.

I learned this the hard way.....

Take all of your valuables out of your car at night. This includes taking the mounting hardware off of your windshield or dash and hiding the power supplies. I lost over $ 1,000 to a thief with no hope of recovering my items and to top if off they smashed my window in the rain and my truck got soaked. Let my loss be your learning experience.
