Have any of you flown in/out of Louisville, KY? I've got a trip coming up to southern Indiana (again). Previously I've always gone to Indy and driven south. It's a slightly longer drive north but it will probably be a wash if there's less traffic.

    Comments?

I flew in and out of Louisville several times in late ’07 and early ’08 on a project. What do you want to know?

We may have had the same destination. Were you visiting an engine manufacturer?

I want to know how the Louisville airport experience compares to Indianapolis.

I can not compare Louisville to Indy, but I choose Louisville over Cincinnati any day. Louisville is much easier to get in and out of than Cincinnati.

    Headed to Columbus, eh?

Actually, when I was flying back and forth to Louisville it was to visit several minesites in Kentucky. I’ve been up to Columbus for meetings with Cummins, but I’ve always flown into Indy.

Nothing really stands out in my memory about Louisville, which I guess is a good sign. I only tend to remember the airports where I have a lousy experience. Have I told you about the wonderful airport security in Gillette, Wyoming?

In 1967, I did my Basic and AIT at Fort Knox. The bus ride in and out of the Louisville airport was uneventful. Things may have changed by now.

Maybe by now, but back in 97 I did my OSUT at Knox and it was pretty uneventfull too. Also drove through there various times between 97 and 07 and I preffer the Louisville area to the Cincinnati are.

Really, just stay the hell out of Ohio all together if you can.

Look out now, IIRC, I rode up there on a American Airlines 707. And, we did have breech loading rifles, even in 1967.

I worked on some 707's for a government contractor in '95-99. They all ranged from 1967-1969 models. The military likes 707's, aka KC-135's.

Not sure where you are headed but we always fly into Dayton. Just got back Friday. Cheaper than CVG if you fly American.

Last time I was at the Louisville airport it had a lot of construction... That's all I remember though.

I have family in that area and have flown in and out of Louisville with small children and never had any issues. last time I flew (year ago) the security lines weren't bad either. I see no reason to avoid Louisville.
