Default Scored an overnight babysitter. Need a place to go this Friday night.

The wifey scored an overnight babysitter for the kids today. We want to drive with the top down to DFW Friday 7/23/10 after I close the office and eat and drink at a good Jazz or Blues bar then finish the night with a moonlit drive back home with the top down and arrive at a quiet house with no kids until Saturday afternoon. It has been a long time since we we've been able to go someplace that doesn't have a play land or be home late or have grown up social conversation. I'm extremely excited. If anybody else would like to hook up with us at the club that would be great.

I was able to Google some Dallas listings but am not getting any answer from the phone. Blue Cat Blues and Tuckers Blues on Commerce, R L's Place on Grand Ave (listing states "rough area be careful" eek), and Muddy Waters and The Cavern on Greenville are what I have found. House of Blues sounded really pricey and its a chain restaurant but it might have to be a last resort for us. They have to be late night establishments for our drive and arrival time. Closing at 9 won't work for us

Could anybody make some suggestions or help us out here? We use to like JJ's Blues bar in Fort worth back in the days of our youth but I understand they shut down. Fort Worth would be a good choice for us too if anybody knows a good joint.

Help me, help me please. I might be only able to eat pudding and drink Ensure the next time we get a weekend pass.

There is Jazz Bar in Lakewood. Next door to El Matts restraunt

I would stay away from the Deep Elum or Greenville Scene, way to much of a police presense and its $20 for parking. But thats just my 2 cents.
    Blah blah blah!

Tuckers is in the heart of Deap Ellum. I wouldn't want to be caught there after dark.

"Tolberts" is a good place. We even had a westsider night there.
Nice old town feel to stroll, in Grapevine.
Barbara likes it, and we usually end up stolling down to the other end, to the "Tap Inn".

That crap about Deep Ellum, is BS.
I am down there almost every week.
The crappy Deep Ellum has died, and is being revived.

Try "La Grange", right across from Trees, on Elm st.
Last week I paid $2.50 to park on Elm, and I left the top down.

I even ran into a MME member with a wicked 91 BRG, running awesome BBS wheels at the "Doublewide".

I live right down the street, but sadly I've never been there. My friends have told me good things about it though!

Tuckers in Deep Ellum it is going to be. See above for location and time. Looks like we will be getting there around 7:30-8:00ish. Should be plenty of time for a nice dinner before jukin at Tuckers. Anybody want to meet us for a night out? Would be great to have somebodies to meet, share some spirits and talk with. We can't spend the night so we want to close the place at around 2 and then hit the road back up to Longview to pick up the wifes car from my office. if you want to hook up let me know.

Tuckers is nice. Don't stress about the reputation - its based on 2-3 year old facts. I've been down several times this year, and neither the "crime" or police have been a problem. Tons of parking lots scattered around, generally $5 for self-pay.

Also, Pearl is very close to Deep Ellum (cab or walking) and is a really great place if Tuckers' isn't what you expected. I used to play some acoustic shows there, and the owner is a great guy who has been a long-time fixture on the Dallas singer/songwriter scene. Classic jazz/blues bar.
