    Question Roll Bar

I want to put a bar in my '95, but I'm not sure which way to go. I have it narrowed down to 4 different ones.

    • M2 Sport - 1.5 diameter tubing, 26.5" from windshield header and 19" tall
    • Ace - 1.75 diameter tubing, 28.5" from windshield header and 18" tall
    • Deuce - 1.75 diameter tubing, 29" from windshield header and 18" tall
    • M2HCHT - 1.75 diameter tubing, 26.5" from windshield header and 19" tall

I'll never pass a broomstick test with the stock seats no matter which bar I install. Obviously the farther back the bar sits, the shorter it is. I plan to 'test sit' a bunch of them at Rogue's place tomorrow!

Which bar did you buy and why?

EDIT - If anyone has a bar they want to sell, let me know!

I've got a related question. I'm most likely going to get the M2 HDHC, but since I need a new top should I just not sweat the rear glass since it says it's not really compatible with anything but the OEM rear glass?

And I'm in the market too

I think it's the diagonals that get in the way of a glass window. You could put a plastic window top on. It would be cheaper and there would be no bar issues.

I have the last 2 on your list. The Deuce (and the ace) is not as high as the M2HCHT (and sport), but it also doesn't mess with the seatbelt like the M2HCHT (and sport).

I have an M1 HDHCDD, non hardtop, with harness bar. The harness bar does not allow me to put even my plastic window down.

I got this one because it is Solo2, what ever that is, legal. And, it is double diagonal. And, I got a sweet deal from SteveE on the previously owned but never "used" roll bar. Plus, it came with a camera mount already on the harness bar.

I've got MiataMike's old M2 Sport. Works great with the glass-window Robbins top and it's supposed to be hard top friendly (although I haven't tried it yet).

thanks for the mad props trixy... The M2 Sport Double Diag. does work with the hard top quite wonderfully. Even with the side latches.

I have the M2HDHC (hardtop) with a single diag. I have my seat set back and reclined to where my surf board is wedged under the main hoop. Thankfully I didn't bang my head on the bar in the accident the other day. further back is good thing if you are tall. (I'm 5'11" and have a longish torso). I'd let you test mine, but its sitting at Stuarts PnB waiting on an appraiser.

Of note, mine is a single diag. and my glass window catches on the diag. I didn't have that problem on my old double diag. bar in my '97 with a '99 top.

M2 HDHCSD because it was for sale by a forum member for a good price. I like this bar and it works with my aftermarket top that has a glass rear window. The only other bar that I might like to have instead of this one is one that works with a hard top (The M2 HDHC bars won't work with a hard top in an NA correct?). But really, I think I'd rather drive top down at the track anyway.

Here is a thread showing the pics of mine when I had the surfboard seats. It's a m2 sport with a double diagonal and it shows clearance from top.
