As another example, functions of the electronic device can be restricted. In some embodiments, the owner of the electronic device can be notified of the unauthorized user by sending an alert notification through any suitable medium, such as, for example, a voice mail, e-mail, or text message.

You guys crack me up. You understand the concept of a patent, don't you? If they were going to do this they could have been doing it from the day they developed the technology - they don't have to wait for the patent to be granted to implement it. All they are doing is locking up the intellectual property so that others can't use it.
I'm the primary inventor on two patents my company has filed over the last four years. Those patents are still in the application/review process, but we've been implementing the technology on our machines in the field since early '08.
