Thread: Unhappy New Year

    Default Unhappy New Year

Well, got to wake-up this morning to a surprise... a gaping hole in my top and shit scattered all over my car. Someone cut the top, broke the console and ransacked the car. Nothing to get but an ipod in the glove box and a gps in the console, but they managed to break the sliding lid on the cup holders, since they were to dumb to figure out the sliding part and tried to pull-up on it. Retards.

If I didn't have enough reasons to move from DeSoto, I just got another good one.

    Sigh...

That's terrible. Hope your deductible isn't too high. If you ever wanted that IL Motorsports console maybe now's the time to get it. Also if your top was vinyl, like mine, holes may have started to develop, like mine. So maybe a cloth top is in your future. Anyway, just trying to make the best of a bad thing. Sorry ozmdd.

Thanks everyone. I'll figure out a way to make lemonade, no doubt. Hopefully, this constitutes my bad luck for the year! :)

Sorry to hear that, Mike! Hope you can get everything taken care of without too much of a hassle.

I know when I owned my Miata and drove it to UTA regularly, I changed my comprehensive deductible to $100 (they didn't offer a zero deductible, or I would have chosen that). Thankfully I never needed to use it, but I highly recommend a low comp deductible if you own a convertible.

I leave my doors unlocked so they do not cut my top, but I know others have done the same and still had their top cut because the crook assumed the doors were locked.

+1 We also make sure the Miatas are locked up the the garage every-night after we had some issues with thieves in the past. The only car that sits outside it the RAV4 which I could give less than a rats ass about.

We had a streak of car break ins this fall so we talked loudly to some of the neighbor kids and the streak has toned down. Go figure.....

Honestly, when I parked at UTA I parked in the parking garage, and often as not I just left my top down and didn't leave anything in my car.
