Thread: Wheel Powder Coating??

  1. #1

    Default Wheel Powder Coating??

Has anyone actually had wheels powder coated? Can anyone recommend a good powder coater with experience in wheels, preferably one who uses low-temp powders?

I, and quite a few friends/customers of mine, have used TRG Coating with nothing less than excellent results. http://www.trgcoating.com

..but if you're balking at $100 a wheel, it's a useless recommendation (even more so since you'd have to cover shipping costs too).

Yup, not gonna spend half the wheel's value for cosmetics. Thx for all the suggestions.

100 bucks a wheel!? Is that for the 24 karat gold powder coat!? lol
I have no experience in this so I really can't comment lol, but that sounds like a good chunk of change.
400 can get you a brand new midpipe Mike!

OK, i get it, PC is expensive. Thanks for the info. If I was building a show car or had $500 wheels, I'd see it differently. My slightly chipped wheels suddenly look fantastic.

I'd go with the lead based powder coating just to get more weight = better grip.

That's the rub. Personally, spending $100 to powdercoat things under the hood is a "waste of money" to me for the most part, but $100 a wheel is well worth it if I wanted to change my wheel color.

And FWIW, it'd cost you nearly $100 each to repair chipped wheels. Most powdercoaters would just coat *over* the chips..fixing the chips would be an additional cost.

    Default $65.00

Ozmod, I have my Vette at the AutoRama and talked to the guys at Quality Powder Coating, LLC in Carrollton yesterday.
    Their work looked great.
$65.00 per wheel and they had lots of colors. I really liked the bright silver.
No affiliation but their number is 972-488-0635.
If you deal with them just say you got it from a friend at the AutoRama. We need good folks to keep coming back.
