    Default Blytheville National Tour 10/18-19

Anyone else considering doing the Tour in Blytheville in October? Since I couldn't make Nat's, this is on my radar, but wondering who else might be going.

I was thinking about it but they just scheduled a work event that weekend.

Good folks but nasty drive. Airstrip course so lots of offsets and slaloms. Holiday Inn express is a good place to stay. I think we will pass this year

Same, didn't make Nats so thinking about Arkansas. Pretty far at 500 miles....

    It's not a match tour?

Edit: Utah was the match tour. Derp.

I know its a haul, but I think I'm going to go for it. Want to see how I stack-up against some of the national level drivers now that the car is coming together. Might be informative about my plans for next year.

I'm considering going. But don't know if I'll be able to make it for another couple weeks.

Want me to check with Reno to see if he is going?

You should just change "national level drivers" to "Greg Reno"!

Basically, yeah. Reno is the benchmark. Other than shocks, our cars should be very close to identical at this point.

Speaking of Reno, is it true he runs the JCW suspension? I was not aware that you could run a base mini with that equipment...

Virtually every option is line-item orderable on any Mini, which is one of the big advantages to a Mini in Street. The JCW Sport suspension is completely different than the JCW car. JCW is like Mazdaspeed: its describes both a car model and a line of go-fast parts.
The S and JCW cars actually come with the same base suspension as a base Cooper. There is an upgraded Sport suspension package (sways, shocks, springs) and a JCW Sport suspension package (same stuff but stiffer). Any car can be ordered with any package from the factory. Same is true of wheels, 15x5.5, 16x6.5, 17x7, 18x7.5.

So long as the car has matching sways and springs from the same package, its legal. (Shocks are open). My car has the same JCW Sport springs and FSB as Reno. We both run aftermarket RSB. I still have stock shocks, he has custom valved Konis. We even chose the same 15x6.5 wheel coincidentally. I'm not sure if he has the e-diff or is open.

The JCW suspension was not line order-able on all minis. Mini added it to the parts book as a factory authorised replacement part for some year models. Also I am pretty sure Greg runs 16" Kuhmos.

I was referring to the 2013 Mini, so the info might not apply to all years as David points out. He was running 15 Kumho's at the MW Pro, but might have changed since then.

So basically you are running a GS (basic Mini) with a DS (Mini JCW) suspension?

Mathematically you should have run a 129.1 at nationals vs Reno's 129.3. So it would have been a pretty dead heat. I'd almost be willing to go to Blytheville to watch you 2 fight it out. Would be fun to watch.

Greg is waiting to see if there will be a field so get those minis registered.

No Voodoo Math needed. Since there were 14 viable drivers that participated at the ER event the week prior to Nationals. It is easy to use those results to mathematically predict what OZ could have run. Using all 14 drivers his time came to 129.095 to 129.104. If you back test the data and eliminate any results with a +/- 2% error rate his time came to 129.080 to 129.072. If you only use the 3 drivers with an error rate of less than 1% +/- and also 3 drivers with years of experience and more likelihood of consistent times at various events (Whitener, Neff & Eberline) his times were 128.957 to 129.136. The math is solid but it does not take into account any environmental anomalies. However considering OZ is our Texas Pitbull I wouldn’t have bet against him. He most certainly would have not finished any lower then 2nd.
