Default More info on my Exxon Valdez pickup

I replaced the leaky valve cover gasket. Yea!

Problem is there is still a steady leak coming from what appears to be a weep hole between the engine and the tranny. I suspect the rear main seal.

Rear Main Seal --> <-- Me

Since I really don't want to pull the tranny or engine to replace a $10 seal, I was considering an oil additive.

The only online review I found was for a product called Bar's Stop Leak available at Wal-Mart. The reviewer said after trying several, this one stopped the leak.

Evidently it works by lubricating dried up rubber and swelling it to stop the leaks. Anyone ever tried one of these that worked? The leak is to big to ignore so something needs to be done.

Unfortunately, these things only seem to work (for me) on small leaks. If it's a pretty steady leak, you may not get a good result.

For $2.00 at Wally World I figured it was worth a shot. Added it today. Says it takes about 250 miles or three days to work. Fingers crossed!

Let me know how it works. I drive an old Ford. Nuff said?
