    Default ugh :(

Just lost my job Friday Sucks to put over 4 years in a company and get laid off. I managed to survive 3 or 4 rounds of layoffs before and during the bankruptcy. This round of layoffs hit by suprise and I was one of 9 to loose my job. Guess I'll be looking forward to the great job hunt. Anyone know of a CAD draftsman job or IT helpdesk job. :-/

I don't know of any IT helpdesk spots offhand but try www.buchanan.com - I used to work there and it's a good company...

I do know there are quite a few IT spots internally that they have open, but I'm not sure where those openings are, what the qualification needed are, and if they are open to external hires. I can find out... can you send me a resume?

Well, I just checked the internal postings... nothing in IT open here. It's all elsewhere around the country.

Our desktop support is outsourced to a division of GE. I'll check with our desktop support folks on Monday to see what division and if I can get you a number.

    OK Dallas,

I checked with one of our desktop support folks and she said that GEITS was now part of Compucom.

She suggested that you check the web site for opportunities and send them a copy of your resume. Compucom is BIG in outsourcing.

Now I did look at your resume that is on your web site. It needs some updating if you are looking for a helpdesk position... you want to include items that will be relevant to that type of position.

Well, PepsiCo (Parent/Holding Company for Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Tropicana, Quaker, Gatorade) has jobs posted at www.pepsicojobs.com. You can check out open positions, and post your resume online there. Seems to me we always have need for IT HelpDesk people...

I don't have any "inside pathways" into our company, but feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Good luck!

Yeah, but you'd be surprised how often we're in a "hiring freeze". You can post open positions, but you can't actually hire them... Still, PepsiCo is a great place to work -- cool products, high-energy environment. We're a little tough on the "worklife/personal life balance", but what company isn't these days.

Anyway, you IT people can narrow the search by using only PepsiCo Business Solutions Group (PBSG) as the "Company", and TX-Dallas and TX-Plano as the only two "Locations" (unless you want to live in Howell, Michigan... ). Leave the "Function" set at it's default of "Any Function".

Some CAD openings with my firm.

I'm not sure if the links will work for people outside the network.

If they don't I'll PM you a cut and paste version.

Those are just the two in Dallas.

Fort Worth has a huge office and might have some openings.

Let me know if you're intrested.

Thanks for everyones support and leads. I hadnt updated my resume on the web until today. I've only been working IT for the past year, and I dont have any formal training, just on the job learning. I was hired as the CAD Draftsman, and when the company was going through bankruptcy a year ago, most of the IT dept was laid off or left. They recruited me into doing both jobs. Bell the links you posted are internal links, if you could give me some more details via PM I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again everyone. :)

Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...
