Default Headlights blink on and off while charging battery.

My brother has a 1999 Chrysler La Baron Convertible that does not get much use. Today, when he tried to charge its dead battery, the headlights and parking lights blinked on and off. I had never heard of this happening.

Any of you guys have any ideas about the cause and a solution?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: The car is a Sebring, not a La Baron.

Was it a security system thing?

I know when I put my new battery in the truck it was nice enough to set off the alarm as soon as it got juice....

If you think Woodbine is in the sticks, you should see where my brother lives in Colorado. I don't think he has a need for an alarm system, but I'll ask him if the car has one.

I've never owned a car with an alarm system, I just rely on attack mice and fire ants. I would have never thought of a problem with an alarm system.

It may have a factory alarm. An alarm trying to go off may explain the flashing lights.

Wow what a task to change that battery!

Figured being from Woodbine you'd also enjoy the gun play.

Being from Woodbine, I have a gun range in my backyard. Almost everyone in my neighborhood does.

    And, thanks for the link.

    From my brother.....

Success, I locked the doors with the power lock and then went around and
opened each door and the truck with the key and that fixed it.

Either way, I think I found your problem.
