Default Grand Prix of Houston - May 11-13 2006

Tickets go on sale at 10:00 am, Monday, January 23rd.

    www.grandprixofhouston.com

Due to the nature of this event, I'm using my super powers to place it here, in Events and Drives even though its likely there won't be an officially sponsored MME event to coincide. We'll try to keep a listing of those folks who will be there in this post (other admins feel free to help out with that).

    Don't threaten me!

    Since we don't have the Widow's Web, is this a guys-only non-event?

Do you guys want to get tickets near one another? I think I am going to get the 3 day super ticket in grandstand 1 or 2. 1 can see the pits. 2 is at the end of the straight where the passing should happen. No indication of where the TVs are going to be. I would just get general admission and paddock passes for the three days, but it will be nice to have seats for the race.

Did they get shipped in the same truck as Altiain's tires?
I'd talk to Altiain's neighbor - maybe he has them.

We are sitting at a month out. The first ChampCar race was this last week, and Bourdais looks to be stronger than ever. Study up on the cars here

First day is behind us. Bourdais has the provisional pole.

Just thought I'd update you ::Cat:: while Majik is in the lobby getting breakfast and 'networking'. I told him to get ID.

Hit town early afternoon and went to the LaQ to check in and then to the track. ROUGH. It is hard to control a car when only one wheel is touching the pavement!

In the Champ car garage, we watched tech. Surprised me how accesssible everything is. Talked to the tech folks when they weren't busy; talked to the mechanics when they were. Everybody was willing to talk, answer questions, and even joke around. Majik tried to talk to the girls during Miss GP rehearsal, but security shooed him away - they were even friendly!

Night time is the right time to race. Qualifying was really cool under the lights, and I look forward to the races.

    Wish you were here.

    Film at 11.

My GPH pics are on this site...

I cannot emphasize how much access we had to everything. To get a list of frequencies for the Champ cars, they sent me to the trailer right behind the Tech Trailer. It said Race Control on the door!
Frequencies for the ALMS cars were in the IMSA trailer. Both groups' tech people would talk as long as you were interested, and I never saw a driver refuse an autograph or a crew member who was not friendly.
Kudos have to go to the Reliant Event Staff as well. They were all smiling and joking with everybody.

Two weekends in a row, I have invited everyone on the forum to come have fun. You blew it again! Next event on my calendar is washing the car - anybody want to join me?

Good pics and page onething. My pictures didnt turn out very well, stupid point and shoot camera. So that is on my shopping list now. Onething is right, if you missed this event you really messed up. It was just too much fun. Its a good thing we walked as much as we did, because the food was awesome too.
