Hey Titus what do you think of that voodoo box that comes with the base kit? They say you can upgrade in stages like the old systems.

The voodoo box works the same way as the power card, elf, powercard pro, etc. It intercepts the injector signal from the ECU and lengthens the injector cycle based on boost. The limit to this method is the injectors. Because the 1.6 injectors are smaller than the 1.8, the voodoo usage is more limited on the 1.6.

The JR Powercard was the first Miata product to use this technology. It was very effective, but it wasn't adjustable and it didn't work on the 1.6.

The FM voodoo was the next product to us this technology, but it added adjustable pots, an O2 clamp, and instructions for configuring for a 1.6.

Next came the BRP Elf. It was similar to the voodoo, but had a USB connector and promises of future user programmability and feature expandability via firm ware upgrades. It has been cursed by problems.

The latest is the PowerCard Pro. It includes lots of extras like the O2 clamp, can be connected to a PC for programming, can control a 5th injector, and more.

Looking at the '99 dyno, looks like if you stomp on the gas at 2100rpm, the turbo finally spools up by 3750rpm? Hope the lag isn't as bad on the street as it looks like on the dyno...

They offer the GT2554R as a no cost option. It spools up faster than the GT2560R, but has less peak power. It wouldn't surprise me if they recommend the GT2554R to many via phone, but advertise the GT2560R as the standard to be able to show HP numbers higher than the competitors.

Ohh, it should also be noted that the Voodoo I does not have an intercooler. The Voodoo II adds an intercooler. The 1.6 does not have a Voodoo II option because there isn't enough headroom in the injectors to get more HP without going to bigger injectors and a full ECU.
