Thread: SCCA #9 - 11/19/2006 - LaGrave Field

    Default SCCA #9 - 11/19/2006 - LaGrave Field

Who all plans to attend the first race here? I'm looking forward to a new place.

I swung by there today to see what it was like and there just happened to be a swap meet going on. Always fun to take a walk through those.

Anyway, it looks like it is sealed asphalt, similar to the TMS bus parking lot, but I think it might have a little more grip because some of the sealant has eroded. The size seems to be about twice (maybe 2.5 times) as long as Beford Motor Speedway and about the same width. There are light polls. I guess it will be setup as an out and back course.

I think it will be fun. Matt, I'm glad you guys could get this setup for us to try.

I happened to drive by that general area yesterday. Couldn't tell what was going on at the field, but it was probably the same swap meet. What street did you turn off of Main to get there?

I don't remember. I was heading south and there was a large sign for LaGrave with an arrow. It looked like several streets were available to turn on.

North of the bridge on Main, I think the first 3 streets running east will get you there.

Go to the aerial view on the map link. I think we are looking at the two rectangles of pavement at the south end of the complex.

I'll probably be there, my car is sporting some new parts: brake pads, oxygen sensor, and race numbers. NO MORE TAPE!

As a newbie to this area has Farrington Field ever been used as a solo site?

The Farrington Field would be a great site. But they won't let us use it. I contacted them back when I was President of ER. They had all the surfaces replaced not long before I called them. The police department use to do training on the lots. Part of the deal of getting a new surface was a promise not to drive police cars on the lot the way they use to.

Things change from time to time but I don't think they need the little money we could pay.

There are many great sites in the DFW area. But lot owners have not seen the light to let us use them at an affordable price. Texas stadium is my favorite example. Not being used for anything. Soon they will not be used for football games either. They charge even more than the speedway. Which means we really don't want you here.
