Thread: Help for a board newbie?

Default Help for a board newbie?

I just found you today -- and I've already learned a lot just from reading. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I found you because I've been surfing for answers to a problem I'm having with my '96 (87K). I've never had a problem with it I couldn't fix so have never needed a mechanic. This one is more than I can handle though.

For lack of a better description (and hopefully to make you grin), I have a wub-wub in my rear end. Noise is constant but loudest turning left, rhythmic, very low frequency, increases with speed but not rpm. I'm thinking bearing, but, again, past my level of comfort. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've emailed Mr. Boyd asking for an appointment (saw the referral to him in a thread). I live in Tarrant County but work in Dallas. Looking for a TRUSTWORTHY human who might be familiar with wub-wubs and might be a bit closer to home/work than TMS. I'm grateful for any suggestions.

    Thanks!

Mr. Boyd is one of, if not the best in town! He's well worth the time...

Avoid Miata Technologies like the plague... your wub wub will turn into fire fire! Or so I've been told...

    Welcome aboard by the way!

It's probably a bearing issue. Not too bad to fix, but the old one has to be pressed out. Stevan can hook you up with the fix.

Thats what I thought it sounded like but I've never heard of a wub wub. I know on my old MGB I had a bearing go out, not a good thing to have happen while on the highway o_0

    MM-- One doesn't actually hear OF a wub-wub... one HEARS a wub-wub!

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I'm anxious to get this diagnosed and fixed -- the Boomiata is my only transport and I've got to burn up I-35 over the next few weeks. Don't want to "throw a shoe" in the process...

I had a front bearing go south and it made the same sound you are describing.

Welcome aboard! Another vote for a bad wheel bearing. Stevan Boyd is the man BTW.

You aren't the only one with problems. I was trying to mask them with grunts when I was bolting the test pipe on
