    The driver of the newer Miata is always supposed to initiate the wave. You did not fail unless you snobbishly refused to return the wave.

    BTW, rogue... It's much much worse when you wave at small sports cars from 3/4 ton pickups... they start scrambling for the ditches.

    Never got a miata wave from a stranger, but a couple days ago, the driver of a 996 turbo s stopped to talk to me at a red light. He must go to MSR a lot, because he thought I had a supercharger.
