    Default WTB: 99 Sport Front Sway

    Looking for a 99 sport front sway for my 93 Miata, looking to prep it for ES tire class. PM me if you have one or know of where to find one used at a reasonable price.

    Thanks,

    Get the FM front sway. Good bar at a good price. I think a '99 sway would put you in CSP.

    Anyone know if the 2000 sport is the same as the 99 "sport" front bar? I may get the FM but am trying to get the most economical bar that will do the job for now just to get a baseline setup so I can see what I think.

    I'm pretty sure the '99 and '00 sport are identical.

    I thought the geometry on the bar is different on the early NA's to the NB bar.

    See Below.
    1992 Bar

    2002 Bar (Which is the same as a '99)

    I'd go with the 7/8" FM (Addco) bar it work great on my old NA!

    I have a 99 OEM sway bar, my car isn't a sport though. but it's for sale.

    I'll sell my original bar. It is the sport (HARD S) suspension.

    Can anyone definitively tell me if the NB bars even work on the NA? I was told that it should. Also are there any differences between the base, sport and HARD S front sways?

    BillyBlaze<-----slowly waves hand from left to right, in front of your face and says "there is no difference ..you want to buy mine"

    Really I think the sport is thicker, but am not sure.

    I think the real question here is if the 90-93 front sways are the same as 94-97 because we know the '99 sport bar will fit the 1.8L NAs.

    I know when you order from FM, there are separate bars for NA's and NB's. I don't know if they are compatible or not, but that would make me think not. Maybe the NA brackets can't handle a 1" bar?

    Base model '99+ ---> SPORT S suspension
    Sport model '99+ ---> HARD S suspension

    FWIW, I believe that ALL of the '99+ front sway bars are identical, regardless of model ('cept for the MSM). The rear sway bar on a Sport is 1mm thicker.

    I'd just suggest the FM 7/8" front bar. It's the best budget front bar for an NA.

    Two suggestions:
    1. Make sure to either shave the bottom of the urethane bushings or shim the bushing brackets so that the swaybar doesn't bind once the brackets are torqued down. If you don't do this, you will accelerate wear n the mounting points, which are a known failure point on a Miata (especially the NBs).
    2. Buy a couple of 1-1/2" or 2" worm clamps at Home Depot. Cut the rubber locating bushings off of your OEM bar, and use the clamps to secure them to the new bar. These bushings are used to center the sway bar and keep it from "walking" too far to one side or the other.

    Don't forget the different p/n for a 90-93 vs the 94-97 models.

    I'm really tired of tripping over my stock front '02 sway... What's the low bid... How about $15?

    The shape of the 94-97 1.8 front swaybars are identical to the front 1.6 bars with the exception of the length of the bar after the bend for the endlinks, the 94-97 is about 3/4" longer (the rears are the same).
