Thread: A friend of mine parting out a 95.

  1. #1

Default A friend of mine parting out a 95.

I know very little outside of what he posted here about the condition of the vehicle. Origionally posted on cowtownjeeps.com

    1995 Convertable Red/Black 38k miles i'm parting out.

I bought this car, which was in pristine shape, for my son, at the end of his High school senior year. actually I wanted it. it has 38k miles. he ran into the back of a Camry, which caused front-end damage.

We started doing a rebuild/repair of the front-end, but he ran out of money, and was shipped of to Boot Camp. Had the minor front end frame repaired and straightened at Dallas Frame and Alignedment (IMHO, the best in the region). bought front quarter panel, driver airbag, radiator, new tires, and A/C coil, then parked it for 4 years in garage or Storelock. was able to still run it up on Dovetail trailer a while back.

This is my initial post on this, pics to come this afternoon after work, but this thing was in awesome shape when I bought it, and he only Drove it for 2 weeks. clear title. I'll get pricing for each item up later as well, but wanted to get the word out.

best way to get ahold of me today is on my cell 214.244.9225 to get priority on items. more info to come. Gawd I hate to do this, since it is so close to completion, but have to. live in The Colony D/FW area

pm or email me for details

thanks ahead guys, spread the word to your Miata friends

    Dave

me too, bummer because I would have loved to tricked it out and Race it.

Guys, I'll give fair pricing on parts. Has new radiator and A/C coil, front support cross member, and right front quarterpanel, all from the Mazda dealership. Hood and front bumper are gone. I think I may still have the old hood I'll let go cheap. The drivers airbag was hell to find, but I did add it. passenger bag deployed. Rest of interior is perfect and no wear at all, even the seats are awesome.

Soft top is in great shape, except of course the back window, which we all know is easy and cheap to replace.

    pics to come

guys, it has 38k miles, and I'm telling ya, it had no issues until the Camry. Was only 2 weeks driven by myself and my son.

This is a Gem for parts. pics in the AM.

I'm in the Metroplex, come see for yourself too, then pass the word to the rest.

even the body/frame is in great condition, after spending $600 with Dallas Frame on a minor push

    Prices on:
    left front fender
    axles if they are two-piece
complete differential unit (nose, housing, gears, diff, stubshafts)
    driveshaft

I'll be glad to remove the parts if it's easier on you. I won't be able to pickup parts until the weekend of Aug 11-12 when I'm in Dallas again.

How about a price on the rolling chassis with whatever body parts are available? Don't need any interior, top, wheels, transmission or engine. Just suspension, frame, differential.

Here is what he quoted me when I asked.

    $1000 for engine
    $750 for transmission
    $1500 for both together

Out of my price range unfortunately.

Sounds like it's out of anyone's (reasonable) price range. I think Miatamoto's spec'd 99+ motor built for competitive CSP only went for 1000 and used trannys were 300 or so. Heck a wrecked/frame damage miata is probably only worth 2000.

nice try guys, I've already done some price checking, and know the lay of the land, but will be fair.

I'm giving one guy that has inquired on the aquisition of the whole thing, a few more hours to decide, then it's on to part out here. I think he wants to complete it and race it, buyt cash talks.

Will keep all informed that inquired here

Cosmos is right, you can get engines and transmissions for these cars for way less than that... Of course they'd probably have way more miles than your engine + tranny.
