Default Stuttering/Stalling Third times a charm?

Well SON OF A %^*^%^ it isnt the coil. I am not very happy at all right now. The check engine light popped on after 200 miles of driving when it first hiccuped. Then it did its ole crack head tach move. I am thinking now maybe crank angle sensor. This is where the engine gets its tach signal from no? I have an extra one of those, but it is hacked up to advance the timing. I would really hate to have to run premium because it is so hot. It is such a simple peice though. I guess I will have some more info after I get it scanned. I am just frustrated right now! I think I might have had a coil problem though. Yesterday, just starting the car it was missing badly. I never tried to rev it, just move it up the driveway. I replaced the coil and it seemed to still miss until I drove it around the block. Maybe it was another sensor. Who knows.

1345 Looks to be a code related to the cam shaft position sensor. Hopefully that is it. Even better news, is that a dealer sent me one of these after I ordered a Crank position sensor. They didnt seem very interested in wanting it back. Yippie. Hopefully that is it. Seems like something that maybe heat would cause a problem with, and also we did use the old one in the head swap, so maybe that is a problem too.

Let me edit this just a bit, the code was 1345 ignition or missfire. Nothing to do with CMP or SGC. Could that be autozones reader just abreviating the code a bit. Looking at this list shows a code 1354, but there are no results on miata.net for that. While 1345 brings up about a dozen results, most with symptoms simlilar to mine.

That blows. Just look at all the news parts as preventative maintenance.

Hell if this fixes it, I might put my old coil pack on and sell the one with under 100 miles on it for $150 or so.

In other news, I did get over 27 mpg on this last tank. I credit a new fuel filter with that!

I know you were asking about the connectors. For a good look at them, there are a few just near the intake manifold. Where the fuel line comes up. Remember when we did the head swap, we were wondering about how to remove them? Those are the same as under the car.

When we pulled Kags engine I saw them there too. Those are the ones that needed a special tool to disco. them. A red one or blue one...some color...I think. Kags? Shuhart1?

It's red and available at any auto parts store for about $10.

I forgot you made the tool run for that Bean! Is it called a fuel-line disconnect tool or what?

I have one if you want to borrow it... but it would probably cost as much in gas to come over here and get it.... Red one is right.

Well now that we have Sammm's tool situation under control, I think the Cam Position Sensor fixed it. I bet I am jinxing myself by saying it but ohwell. I replaced the part, and as soon as I started the car, the check engine light went out. That seemed like a good sign to me. I also jumped the clutch switch since it was giving me problems too. Hopefully all this crap is behind me now. I know I am broke.

Did the Crank Angle sensor fix your issues?

No, it was the cam position sensor. The one right at the top of the valve cover on the intake cam. I put the new one in, and the CEL went off when I started the car. No problems since. I have been working alot, but I have intended to see if my coil pack was even bad.
