I'll be out there teaching again. This is a great follow-up school for those who took the IA101 school this past weekend, as it helps you to build on the course elements you've been working on (skidpads, slaloms, threshold braking), while the speeds start to get higher and other elements are introduced.
I know a couple of people on the board attended last year's school (onething & Flyin96M) - maybe they can chime in also? :)
Iain
I am signed up for Saturday only. I don't want to do a double this early in the year.
I just signed up :D
OK so how did you guys answer the following questions:
Would you like to order the lunch that will be delivered to the track (Mineral Wells only)? (Additional fee)
Do they give a lunch break where on could shoot over to Subway?
Have You Ever Time Trialed or Autocrossed Before? Yes or No, How many? Geez I have no ideal I average around 25 events a season over the past 3 years, do they need an accurate #?
No lunch
Lots
No lunch.
1.
I'm now signed up for AX102!
Sweeeeeeeeeet! 2 weekends in a row to Miserable Wells! :shock:Quote:

These are excellent schools. I did both last year and learned a ton. I am not staying for dinner on Saturday night. (Since I am not staying in MW) However, I did dine with the nice PCA folks last year and had a good time.
Oh, wait...I think anyone in a Miata (especially TCS) should not attend.
You're safe... I'll probably stay out of tire class until next year... And then I'll have a silly CSP pax on a mostly CS car. :-)
I'm glad some of you guys are interested. The best day IMHO, is Sunday however, sorry some can only do Saturday. Sunday is when you get going 100mph on one of the time-trial courses! :D
Look for myself or Iain when you get there. I'm usually setting up the course early in the morning..look for a large jungle camo "boonie" cap. I will either be in a red 95 Miata or my maroon S10 farmtruck...don't know yet which one.
I usually get the lunch...just easier not to have to run stand in line somewhere...they bring the food out (from Subway) and you finish off a sandwich with all the lettuce etc.
I hope we can get some more Miatas out there....the more the better!!
Email me direct if you have more questions...I'm not real good at checking this forum.
Maniac Mitch
Maniac Mitch fill me in on the Tech deal on Wednesday! My car has never failed a Tech Inspection, but I hear the PCA guys look a little harder than some.
Thanks,
Mick
Mic,
I understand that all teching is done at the track now...no Wednesday night tech anymore. I used to do tech and still fill in when needed so let me give you the rundown of what *I* checked:
fluid leaks front and rear
belt condition, water hose condition
throttle return spring returns easy, no sticking
battery tied down properly and positive side covered
brake fluid condition...how dirty
brake pad material how much left, rotors scored up
tread and tire condition, inflated well
shake each tire to make sure lugs are tight
seat belts--not torn or frayed, anchored well
steering wheel not sloppy, make sure tire moves with little steering wheel movement
make sure seat is anchored down
look for loose items inside
check condition of helmet. For normal events make sure it has a snell 95 or newer rating...we tend to let this slide for the schools
check trunk for loose items
Your instructor will also look over the car and point out any problems...but I doubt any instructors will notice anything not noticed by the tech guys.
Note: unless you have an aftermarket roll-bar (not style bar) you will have to run top-up for the school and events.
I've emailed some of the organizers and asked about tech at the track. If the Wednesday tech is for real, I'll repost here about it.
Maniac Mitch
I'm thinking I'll put the hardtop on the car; it gives me a bit more headroom! That shouldn't be a problem should it??Quote:
