These kits are selling for around $100-115 shipped. Are these worth buying?
Good question. That's on my off-season to do list. I haven't seen the listings but I'd very suspicious of something priced that cheap. What's the catch?
The kit I am looking at says most of the parts are made in Japan by GSM, but I do not know how good they are. I started looking at ebay for these parts because I saw a post on miata.net that said some people had these kits and were happy with them. Any input from others would be appreciated.

What is the savings vs. OEM parts?
I seem to recall a thread on the pointy board a while back that generally praised the ebay Timing belt/water pump kits as being an acceptable substitute to OEM and a good price. Then again, it could have been a dream. My dreams have been pretty vivid lately.
I just talked to Trussville Mazda's parts dept. and they said they will not sell the OEM remanufactured water pumps for 90-93 because they are a piece of junk. I will probably buy the ebay kit with the new water pump.
What's all included?
If it's just a TB and WP then no... if it includes the thermostat, thermostat gasket, idler pulley, and tensioner pulley then yes.
Bonus points if it includes the valve cover gasket or CAS o-ring. ;)

The thermostat and CAS o-ring are not included on either kit.
To the top!!
Motorollow, how did your timing belt project go?
I have not started the project because I thought about selling my car. Now, my wife wants me to keep the car for awhile so i will start putting some more $$ into it. I have been driving it daily to work.
I used the ebay kit on my 1.8 rebuild and have had not problems with it.
Got one for Christmas... All looks good, parts are GMB brand.
My brother and I put one of these kits on his Miata a few months back, and his car hasn't had any problems.
So, Darron65, the off-season is almost over. Are you gonna take the plunge?
