Sign up for AAA for the year.
After seeing the way it's running today I just don't even want to chance driving it.
I need a towing company to pick it up at my home and take it to Gary's in Plano, I live in Weatherford.
Anyone know someone that will do that? at a reasonable rate.
Where is the car, when exactly when you need it done, and how much are you willing to pay? ;)
I have my trailer and truck for my track car that could haul a Miata no problem. However, I'm going to be a bit busy this weekend. However, I'd be more than happy to help if I can.

Will it drive up onto a trailer?
A reasonable rate would be for you to sign up for the AAA premier plan for a year.
AAA
I don't know if this has been suggested but you might check out AAA. :D
I'm pretty sure I could get it on a trailer.
Looks like AAA wants 100.00 for their middle of the road plan which includes one tow up to 100 miles.
I was hoping to get it there on Friday, but i just got in some tires for my wifes Xterra which have to be mounted in the next day or two.
I will have to see how much cash i have left over.
Doesn't Gary have a trailer?
Not to quibble... but with diesel running $3.30+/gal... it would cost me $60-70 worth of fuel to come get the car and bring it back to Plano... the $100 for AAA (on a real wrecker that is licensed and bonded) seems cheap to me...
I've used Quality Towing, number is 817-444-6400. Not sure how much they would charge, but its worth a try.
I guess it's just a matter of what you do and don't have....lol
Looks like I'm just gonna have to let it sit another two weeks till I can save more money to throw away. :(
Thanks for the #, I am going to give them a call.
What's wrong with the car?
simple answer....it wont run
long answer....it dies when you take your foot off the gas.
I can crank it and warm it up by keeping the gas going around 3K rpms, once warm it will idle but if I give it gas up to 3K rpms it will (rather than return to idle) just die.
It also has a pretty loud thunk in the engine with each rotation while running similar to a helecopter sound coming from the intake manifold side (or best I can tell).
When the car dies it sounds like gas/air is being pushed by pistons from the intake manifold side (don't know what that's all about).
That's just the best i can describe it.
It's had a check engine every since the install.
I found a vacum hose off and a ground wire off, I put those on and no change except for the additional sounds described above and the car dies now...I reset the CPU so that the car would recalibrate after replacing the ground wire and hose.
I just hope the engine aint toast.....again.
I'll give you two fidy for it how it sits.
Billy, if it is the engine, is it still covered under any warranty by the engine guy that rebuilt it?
rent a uhauld pick up and trailer dolly for the day.
